Poverty is a lack of the basic necessities for sustaining a healthy life, which is the object of self-sufficiency.  This idea is increasingly attractive with high pressure jobs and flat or descending wages for the non-ruling class.

Best to cover all bases.  Maintain a few specialties and practice self-sufficiency where practical.</description>
